

C. John Pattillo Jr., age 87, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born August 3, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Vernie Wilhoit Pattillo and Clarence John Pattillo Sr.
John was always an excellent student, graduating from high school two years early as class valedictorian; and had a tremendous work ethic, even from his first job as a newspaper boy in North Birmingham. He graduated from Birmingham Southern College, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, with a degree in economics before pursuing graduate studies at the University of Alabama. John also served for a period of active duty in the US Navy, one of his proudest accomplishments. He had a love of and natural ability for learning languages and was fluent in Spanish, which served him well in his professional and personal endeavors. He spent his professional career working in the healthcare sector, including in senior management for a hospital in Miami, Florida and later in the public health arena. John was a Christian, a devoted husband, and a beloved father and grandfather. He was passionate about traveling and was fortunate to have had opportunities to visit many places throughout the US and the world with his wife. Most of all though John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during Summers on Sanibel Island, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Robert Pattillo, June Posey and Jack Pattillo.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Nelda Pattillo; son, Michael Pattillo Sr. (Elizabeth); daughters, Pamela DeMolina and Patricia Trevathan (John); and grandchildren, Jessica DeMolina, Michael Pattillo Jr., Lauren Trevathan, Anthony DeMolina Jr., and Catherine Pattillo.
