Laffan Jr., John James age 80, passed away on July 8, 2015. He was born in Flushing, NY. to John and Helen (Sweetman) Laffan Sr. He was a US Army Captain, before getting an advanced degree from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. John worked most of his career as a physicist, contracted by the Dept. of Defense. Memberships include Phi Kappa Theta, Corpus Christi Catholic Church where he was a lector. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne, two sons, John J. Laffan III (Betty), Brian T.J. Laffan (Cindy), two daughters, Mary Beth Adelman (Harry), Theresa Anne Shea (Larry), a sister, Mary King, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday July 13, 2015 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Parish Center) on 56th St. in Temple Terrace. A reception for friends and family will be on Monday July 13, at 2PM at the University Village were John and Anne had resided the past few years.
