She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Esther Pearl Bland. Father-in-law Leon Kemper Bland, sister-in-law Joyce B Smith, and grandson Michael Hockensmith.
She is survived by her husband Glenn S. Bland; her daughter Sharon Hockensmith and Joyce Bland; her son Mark Bland; her grandchildren Adam Locke (his wife Tran), Jacob Hisckensmith (his wife Amanda), Ethan Hockensmith, Daniel Hockensmith, Matthew Hockensmith and Mckenzie Meyer; and her great grandchildren Oli Locke, Axel Hockensmith, Shirley Hockensmith, Hank Hockensmith and Lola Hockensmith.
Kumi was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to give "horsey rides" for all her grandkids. She loved gardening, shopping, practicing Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism and the fight for world peace.
A committal service will be held at Florida National Cemetery, located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL, 33513, United States, on December 9, 2025, at 1:30 pm.
