Bob was born on May 2, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio. He grew up in German Village and spent many hours on the baseball field and basketball court. He was so smart that he skipped the second grade and was a member of the National Honor Society when he graduated from South High School in 1959. Bob attended THE Ohio State University beginning in 1959 and graduated with a degree in pharmacy.
He met the love of his life, Sharon Rings, at Schiller Park in German Village in the fall of 1960, and the attraction was immediate, but he was dating her best friend. Bob eventually broke up with his girlfriend and was relentless in his pursuit of Sharon. She eventually agreed to go out with him in early 1961, and they were married in August 1962. They started their family in 1963 and eventually had four children.
After graduation, he and his family moved to Lancaster, Ohio and Bob began working as a pharmacist with Risch Drug Store before starting his career with SuperX. He worked for SuperX in Ohio, Texas, and Florida as a pharmacist, manager, and district manager. He eventually worked in upper management at the corporate office in Cincinnati, Ohio until SuperX was sold. He returned to being a pharmacist in Ohio and North Carolina until he retired in 2007.
After retirement, Bob and Sharon were able to travel and see many places in the U.S. and around the world, including his bucket list destination of Egypt. Two years ago, he and Sharon moved to Florida where he enjoyed living by the water and fishing every day.
Bob was a passionate man about many things. First and foremost was his love for his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob loved being called Dad, Pop, and Poppy.
He was a great storyteller and could recall infinite details, making old stories interesting even when they had been heard many times. He was a master of sarcasm and was always the funniest person in the room. His love of movies and music was evident by his ability to relate almost any conversation back to a line from a movie or a song. He cultivated a close-knit family, in part through his love of games. Some of his favorites were the record game, whiffle ball, board games, and cards (he was always the dealer).
Bob was an avid sports fan. He loved the Yankees and Celtics but his real sports passion was the Buckeyes. He was a Buckeye through and through and could (and would) tell you anything and everything about Buckeye football.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Margie Carver.
Bob is survived by his wife Sharon Carver; his children: Deborah Fink, Melissa Carver (Michael), Melinda Peacock (Chuck), and Mick Carver; his six grandchildren: Kaylee, Nathan, Stephen, Sara, Marisa, and Austin; and his great-granddaughters: Emilia and Izzy. He is also survived by his sister Bing, as well as many extended family members and friends who all loved him.
Per Bob’s request, there will not be a funeral service. There will be a celebration of life on March 22, 2025 at Bob and Sharon’s Florida home.
