Dr. Rudy Panganiban, aged 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Tampa, Florida after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born to Drs. Eusebio and Pacita Panganiban in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines, he was the eldest of 10 children.
He graduated from Manila Central University’s College of Medicine in 1966 and then moved to New York where he completed his residency. He proudly served in the US Navy and US Navy Reserve, with over 30 years of service and retired as Medical Director for the Florida Department of Corrections. This allowed his family to travel the world, a passion he enjoyed because it was not in his nature to be idle.
He is survived by his two sons, Dr. Rudy Panganiban, Jr.(Christine) of Tampa, FL, and Roland Panganiban (Leilani) of Orlando, FL; his 5 granddaughters: Alexa, Graysen, Dylan, Cassiana and Karisna; and his siblings Lily Latayan (Frederico), Hedy Embuido (Joey), Lorna Serafin (Ceferino), Eusebio Jr., Olga Tubianosa, and Manolo.
Rudy was a devoted husband and father, beloved grandfather/lolo, brother, and uncle. His passion for travel extended into an appreciation for foreign food. He was a devout Catholic and cherished time with his family. Rudy not only embodied love, compassion, and kindness but also demonstrated the strength to fight... a legacy which he left, in his family.
