Theodore "Ted" Chekan

Ted was born in Barnesboro, PA to Susan Shutack and George Chekan. He graduated East Rutherford High School, East Rutherford, NJ and went to work as a Quality Assurance Engineer for Becton Dickinson and Co. for 37 years until retirement. He married his beloved wife, Angela in 1955 who preceded him in death after 56 years. He was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was admired and loved and will be deeply missed. He was a devout Catholic parishioner of St. Mark the Evangelist in Tampa, Florida where he enjoyed many years of his grandsons' performances in the church orchestra.

He is survived by his daughter Diane Riccardi (spouse John), and his son Dr. Ted Chekan (spouse Maribel), grandchildren John B. Riccardi, Michael Riccardi, and Andrew Chekan, and many nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, Temple Terrace.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, August 24, 2023 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Tampa, with Fr. Ed Lamp officiating. Arrangements are by Blount & Curry Funeral Home.
