Walter Shane McNew

Walter S. was born in Bay City, Michigan to Walter and Margaret Rose (Mahoney) McNew on October 23, 1942. After high school graduation, he attended the University of Pennsylvania. He married Jane Luptowski on April 24, 1976 in Bay City, Michigan. Walter worked as a respiratory therapist in Michigan and in Tampa, FL at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. He was also a 20-year veteran of the Michigan National Guard, where he held the rank of sergeant.

Walter was very proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed deer hunting in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also enjoyed painting nature landscapes, cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Michigan Wolverines, and spending time with his family, friends, and pets.

He is predeceased by his parents and one nephew. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane, and his two children: Michael McNew and Bethany (Gustavo) Pancorvo, 2 grandchildren, Mila and Liam Pancorvo, his sister Karen (Ray) Bartels, nephew Peter (Kathy) Bartels, niece Amy Bartels, and several grandnephews and a grandniece.

A visitation for Walter will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Terrace Oaks Chapel, 12690 N 56th St, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 1:30 PM, 12690 N 56th St, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. The committal service will occur Monday, June 12, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
