Charles Louis Myers Jr.

Cremation services for Charles Louis Myers Jr., 83, of Temple, have been entrusted to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple. Inurnment at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen will be at a later date. He died Saturday, January 29, 2011.

Charles was born January 2, 1928 in Denver, CO to Charles Louis Myers Sr. and Hattie Ann Hendricks Myers. He graduated from Estes Park High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio. He joined the United States Army November 21, 1945 and served in Korea and Vietnam during which time he received the Combat Medical Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Good Conduct Medal with two Clasps. He retired as a Lt. Colonel at Ft. Sam Houston May 23, 1973. He married Wanda Alice Rogers June 3, 1948 in Seguin, TX.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Wanda Myers of Temple; one son, Charles L. Myers III of Estes Park, CO; one daughter, Mary C. Myers of Temple; three brothers, Allen Myers, Jimmy Myers and Danny Myers; four sisters, Diane Rayburn, Vera Mundt, Shirley Mitchell and Beverly Morken; and three grandchildren.
