Emily Jean Robertson was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 13, 1950, to Richard McClary Burgess, Jr. M.D., and Shirley Donoho Burgess. Emily passed away on May 17, 2025, at Park Place Manor in Belton, Texas at the age of 75.
Emily received a BA in History/Spanish in 1976 from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio where she later completed the coursework and written thesis for a Master of Theology in 1978.
Emily and Gordon Robertson were married on January 18, 1988, at the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) in Augusta, Georgia. Shortly after, Emily moved to College Station in 1992 where she taught High School English at Snook ISD as well as Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In 2007, Emily packed up her home and moved to Temple, Texas so that her Husband could work for Baylor Scott & White as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Before moving to Temple, Emily was a devoted member of Aldersgate Church in College Station, Texas. After moving to Temple, she was a member of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Temple. The Robertson family moved to the Temple/Belton area in 2007.
The family of Emily Jean Robertson invites you to a viewing on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas, with Reverend Jim Crothers officiating. A burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery, Belton, Texas.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Robertson, and parents, Richard McClary Burgess, Jr. M.D., and Shirley Donoho Burgess.
Emily is survived by her daughter Laura Emily Holmen, son-in-law John Randall Holmen, daughter Sarah Elizabeth Robertson, grandson Kenneth Warren Holmen, granddaughter Victoria Anne Stevenson, granddaughter Alexandrea Elizabeth Lenice Foster, brother Richard Lynn Burgess, brother Jack McClary Burgess, sister in-laws Janie Stewart and Donna Burgess, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and godson Peter Ford.
