Gertrude was born to William and Emma Wiese on August 7, 1935 in Fairy, Texas. She was raised in Cranfills Gap, Texas where she played basketball and volleyball, and graduated from high school.
After graduation, Gertrude lived in McGregor where she met her husband Maurice Gunn who preceded her in death. At the beginning of their marriage , the couple lived in Moody but soon moved to Temple, Texas to raise their family. Gertrude and Maurice had two sons, Steven and Bradley.
Gertrude was a homemaker, church secretary, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and sports fan. She also enjoyed time in her garden tending to plants, crafting, cooking for others, and maintaining correspondence with her family and friends.
Gertrude is survived by Steven of Temple, Bradley and his wife Valarie of Temple, her grandson Brett of Sulphur Springs, and granddaughter Kristen of Temple, Gertrude also leaves behind three of her five siblings, Emma Marbut, Kenneth Wiese, and Billie Wiese.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas. A celebration of life will follow at 10:00 am with burial at Wilson Valley Cemetery, Little River, Texas.
