

Janet Louise Whitehead was born on August 1, 1944 in Columbia, South Carolina to Woodbury and Charlotte Schmitt. She passed from this life peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the age of 71.
Janet was the oldest of four siblings, she had two sisters and a brother.
She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in Plattsburgh, New York in 1962 and married shortly afterward to Henry Fred Whitehead who was serving in U.S. Air Force.
After her husband served in the Air Force, he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and they lived in Lawton, Oklahoma for 15 years.
They had two children, Jan Michelle and Robert Scott during their 15 year marriage. Soon after a divorce, she and her children moved to Killeen, Texas to be close to her mother and step father.
She worked at Citizen’s National bank in Killeen for several years prior to retiring from Scott & White in Temple after 16 years of service in the hospital foundation office.
Her hard work, loyalty, and dedication was a strong attribute of her character that was instilled in both of her children.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Candy and Johnny Johnson, her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle & Keith Curb, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sarah Whitehead, along with 5 grandchildren, James, Justin, Jett, Jordan, Benji, and 1 great grandchild, Bailee.
She is preceded in death by her mother and step father, Charlotte and Frank Borowski of Killeen, her brother Robert Wallace of Plattsburgh NY, and sister Jeannie Layton of Walkersville, MD.
A memorial service for Janet will be held on Monday, September 21st at 11:00 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Joe Daggs officiating. The family will gather at 10:00 am for a short visitation prior to the service.
Memorials may be given to Temple Animal Shelter.
The family of Janet Whitehead wishes to thank her pulmonologist Dr. Jeana D. O’Brien whom she trusted and adored at Baylor S&W hospital for her excellent care along with her loving friends and neighbors for their support.
