She grew up in Temple, attended Temple schools and graduated with her class in 1965 from Temple High.
She completed the vocational nurse training program at King's Daughters Hospital and graduated with her LVN certification in 1968.
On September 18,1971, she and William "Bill" Barkemeyer were married. They had one child, Kevin Joseph born March 25, 1975.
Janice was a devoted mother and wife and worked at Scott & White as a member of the LVN nursing staff until her retirement.
She took great pride in caring for her family and her patients, The family worshipped together at St. Luke's Catholic Church.
Janice, Bill and Kevin enjoyed taking road trips especially to the beaches of Galveston and Corpus Christi. On any given Saturday night, Bill and Janice would most likely be dancing to a country-western band or lively polka music. They loved good music, good food and visits with the Barkemeyer and Frei families.
Janice joined Bill and Kevin in their love for sports. They were loyal fans of the Wildcats, Dallas Cowboys
and Texas Longhorns. Friday night lights would find them at Wildcat Stadium or on a bus trip for out-of-town games. If the Cowboys or Longhorns were playing it was must-see TV.
Janice is survived by her son Kevin, aunts, uncles and many cousins who are not only family but
devoted friends. Janice joined her loved ones who have gone before in God's arms on August 19, 2021. We love you Janice. Rest in Peace.
