

John was born March 14, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur and Blanche Hough.
John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945. He served in World War II, the Korean conflict and Viet Nam. He retired in 1971 as Chief Warrant Officer 4. His honors and recognitions include the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), 1st Oak Leaf Cluster to the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal.
Mr. Hough was preceded by his wife, Verla Hough, both parents and 5 siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Hough of Temple, Sons John Hough, Jr.and his wife, Nel,of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jeffery Hough, and his wife Marlene of San Antonio, Texas and a step daughter, Jennie Archie, and her husband Daryl of Indian Head, Maryland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John Hough and Elisa Hough and Seth Archie and Kane Archie.
Mr. Hough, was a past President of the Exchange Club of Killeen. He was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officers Association of America.
Visiting hours will be from noon until 5 pm Sunday, March 6, 2022. The family will receive visitors from 3-5 pm at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, TX.
A graveside, with full military honors, will be held at 2 pm, Monday, March 7, 2022, at The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, TX 76708 or Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38104.
