

Services for Mrs. Guthrie will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. HK Ballard officiating. She will be laid to rest prior to the funeral service at 9:00 am next to her beloved husband in Holland City Cemetery.
Mary Jane was born on March 24, 1937 in Russell, Kansas to Malloy R. and Britinia M. Estes Foster. She graduated from Palo Verde High School. Mrs. Guthrie married John Guthrie in June of 1981 in Belton, Texas and they were married until his passing in 2012. Mrs. Guthrie worked for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department as the Kitchen Manager until her retirement in 1997. She was a certified Bell County Correctional officer and was a wonderful cook for her friends and family, known to many as the “ Queen of the Pinto Beans.”
Mrs. Guthrie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, brothers Jack, David, and Jon Foster, sister Laura Foster, and a grandchild Tommi Harp.
Mary is survived by sons Richard Harris and John Guthrie II, daughters Britinia Harris and Dorothy Jane Anderson, grandchildren Tabitha Harp, Brila Petty, Richard Harris II, Amber and Ashli Guthrie, Chad Salvatierra, Jace Manning, and Rebecca Anderson. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Haylee Jennings, Tollie Ferguson, Caelyn Guthrie, Cooper Johnson, Chas, Emilie, And Braylin Stephens, Brandon and Brooke Beason, and Lydia and Evan Salvatierra.
