

Mina Burchard, 89, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2014 after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Canyon Creek Baptist Church at 4306 S. 31st Street, Temple, TX on Wednesday, September 10 , at 10:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service at Capital Park Cemetery in Pflugerville,TX at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon.
Mina was born in Lometa, Texas on July 19, 1925 to Oscar Ridenour and Delia Harris Ridenour. She graduated Salutatorian from Lometa High School in 1942. She was working as a telephone operator in Boerne, Texas when she met and married John William Burchard on May 1, 1948. They celebrated their 64th anniversary shortly before his death in 2012.
Mina enjoyed crafting of all kinds but particularly sewing, painting bluebonnets, and beading jewelry. She loved the Lord and was always active in her local church. She and her husband were avid travelers and eventually visited all 50 states, plus Canada and Mexico.
She is survived by her two daughters, Becky Lusk and Barbara Farris; granddaughters, Karen Lusk Caballero, Kristy Lusk Jones, Amanda Farris Zinger, and Lindsay Farris Allmond; and great-grandchildren: Nathan Caballero, Emma Caballero, Lila Devenport, Emily and Kate Jones, Addyson White, and Olivia Allmand. She is also survived by her ‘adopted’ daughters and their families, Mary Hudgins, Yong Soon Kim, and Tom and James Kang. She was also preceded in death by her son, John William II.
Mina will be remembered by all for her passion for hugs and her sense of humor. Within hours of her passing, when asked how she was feeling, she responded, “with my fingers”!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Canyon Creek Baptist Church, 4306 S. 31st, Temple, TX 76502.
A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, September 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home at 3220 S. 31st Street, Temple, TX. Refreshments will be provided, and the family welcomes Mina’s friends to stay and share memories of their mother/grandmother.
