

Funeral services for Paul F. Simmons, 91, of Temple will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Officiating will be Michael Santiago, Bob Miller and Elwyn Johnston. Burial will follow in Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Simmons passed away Monday in a Temple care center.
Paul Francis was the eleventh of twelve children, born on March 27, 1920 in Wichita, Kansas to John Floyd and Ethel Mae Simmons. He married Deolas (Rhyne) Johnston on September 29, 1980 in Killeen.
He retired from the US Air Force in 1960 after more than 37 years of service. Including service during WWII and the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he was called into the ministry and served three years as Care Pastor at Bethel Assembly of God. In 1988, was called to serve as Visitation Pastor in Ft. Collins, Colorado. They moved back to Texas in 1997 and served as Pastor to the seniors at Faith Temple in Killeen. He retired from the ministry in 2005 and attended New Beginnings Assembly of God before moving to Retirement Center in Temple in 2007. Paul was also a member of the Retired Officers Association.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Ann and by ten siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Simmons, of Temple; a son, Keith David Johnston of Magnolia, TX; daughters, Karen Johnston-Santiago of Waco and Robin Gorgas of Wichita, KS; a brother, Thomas Simmons of California and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
