Tommie Helen Spivey

Services for Mrs. Tommie Helen Leister Spivey, 86, of Temple will be held graveside at 12:00 noon Thursday, August 11,2011 at Cook Walden Capital Parks in Pfugerville. Services have been entrusted to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple. Friends are invited to sign the register book and pay their respects at a come and go visitation Wednesday, noon to 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Spivey passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 in Temple.

Tommie was born July 2, 1925 in Altus, OK to James Everett Leister and Mozell Lee Mixon. She grew up in Altus where she graduated from high school in 1950. She married Ira V. Spivey, September 23, 1949 in Vernon, TX. They moved to Amarillo in 1951 where she was employed by the Amarillo Independent School District as a Teacher’s Assistant.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ira V. Spivey of Temple; one daughter, Pam and her husband Stuart of Temple; a granddaughter Angelia Palm of Temple; grandson Nathan and his wife Holley Matthews of Troy; and four great-grandchildren Briyer, Matthews, Dakota Matthews, Savanah Matthews and Brayden Palm.
