

Graveside services for Mr. Wilcox will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Eddy cemetery in Eddy with Rev. Roscoe Harrison officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple on Tuesday evening.
Willis was born on July 3, 1926 in Eddy, Texas to R.O. and Elsie Lay Wilcox. He married Monnie Cashion on August 26, 1944 in Belton.Mr. Wilcox joined the Army in 1944 and served in the European Theatre during WW II in France and Germany. He returned to Eddy and, with his brother-in-law Russell Cashion, started Cashion and Wilcox Concrete in 1958. He retired in 1989, although he continued to work in the concrete business until 2012. Willis is credited with organizing the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer FD in 1960, helping the incorporation of B-E, starting and helping run the popular “Mayfest” in B-E for 30 years, and serving on the city council in B-E for more than 25 years.
Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife of 70 years, Monnie Wilcox, sons Halbert and Gaylon Wilcox, 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the B-E Volunteer F.D.
Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of the arrangements.
