

Alfred "Bud" Frank Cuvelier, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Terre Haute, to Alfred George and Myrtle (Staggs) Cuvelier.
Alfred graduated from Garfield High School in 1943 and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. In his free time, he loved to garden, fish, golf, bowl and take care of his apple orchard. He was also a loyal fan to the Indiana State University boys' basketball team and an avid Cubs fan. He was a charter member of Rio Grande Baptist Church and a member of Gideons International.
Alfred is survived by his children, Becky Grindle, Marsha Cuvelier, Lorie Smock and husband Michael, and Kathy Byarlay and husband Don; grandchildren, Danny Wright, Craig Wright, Eric Wright, Peggy Killion, Kayanna Stultz, Tim Grindle, Phillip Smock, Kristen Smock, Aidan Smock, Hope Smock, JoyceAnn Byarlay and Jacob Byarlay; 14 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Judy Travioli.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 70 years, Betty Lou Cuvelier; and a sister, Margariute Cuvelier.
Per Alfred's wishes, cremation was chosen. There will be a memorial service Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Berean Baptist Church, with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating. There will also be military honors performed by the VFW Post 104. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, American Humane Society, ASPCA or the American Cancer Society.
