Charlene Wilkey

Charlene was born on June 10, 1953 to Charles and Thelma Coleman in Terre Haute, IN. She was a teacher assistant for more than 20 years before working in housekeeping at Union Hospital until her retirement in 2019.

She enjoyed watching basket ball games and would attend ISU games, cross stitching, and Starbucks frappes. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her husband Steve along with best friends Jackie and Jarrie Webster enjoyed traveling together and going out to eat.

Charlene is survived by her children Eric Wilkey (Ruby) and Jennifer Kirkham (Troy); grandchildren Stephanie Wilkey, Megan Piper (David), Emily Wilkey, Peyton Kirkham, and Allie Kirkham; and great-grandchildren Elijah Bose, Liam Bose, Skyler Wilkey, and Nikolai Piper.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Thelma Coleman, her beloved husband D. Steven Wilkey, and she was the last surviving sibling out of eight.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 11am to 1 pm with services to follow at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Fond memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.mattoxwood.com.
