

Charles Elbert Letner, 78, of Terre Haute went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1939, in Terre Haute to Elbert Wayne and Blanche Irene (Estes) Letner. He married Flora L. Brown on January 25, 1966.
Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Flora Letner of Terre Haute; children, Charles L. Letner Sr. and wife Mary, Loretta I. James, Troy A. Letner and wife Monica, Ruby I. Wilkey and husband Eric, Melissa A. Hutchinson and husband Larry, and Charles E. Letner, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Charles Letner Jr., Crysten Letner, Christopher Letner, Lynne Letner, Kayla Wilson, Zack Wilson, Stephanie Bose and husband Brad all of Terre Haute, Megan Wilkey of Jacksonville, NC, Emily Wilkey of Terre Haute, Larry Hutchison Jr, Nathaniel Hutchinson and wife Sommer, Calvin Hutchinson all of Bloomington, Nneka Hutchinson, Uzziah Hutchinson, Latasha James, Latyshia James, and Michael James II all of Terre Haute; great-grandchildren, Elijah Bose, Liam Bose, Adamas Hutchinson, Skyler Wilkey, William Letner; 2 honorary grandchildren, Jason Sharp and Anastasia Roe; sisters, Alice Orndorff of Texas and Margaret “Susie” Bunch of Terre Haute; a special cousin, JoAnn Liffick and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Billy Joe Letner, two brothers, Louis Albert Letner and Robert Jackie Lee Letner; and two sisters, Leona Letner and Lucille Letner.
Charles worked and retired from Weston Paper. He then worked as a delivery driver for Canteen Corp. He loved to work on cars and lawnmowers. Charles was also a Corvair aficionado.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 15 and on Saturday, December 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Larry Hutchinson officiating.
