He was born April 21, 1939 at 2204 1st Avenue in Terre Haute, to Edwin Milton and Eileen Alberta Evinger Roberts. Red served in the United States Air Force. Red enjoyed Indianapolis Colts football, a good NASCAR race, mushroom-hunting season, and meeting new people, but he never met a stranger. His children and grandchildren will always remember his witty sayings, and his unparalleled ability to recall so much of local, U.S., and world history details. His intellect, kindness, and fondness to relay funny stories will be missed by all of his friends and family. Red enjoyed his years working at Central Nitrogen and Miller Trucking. After 28 years, he retired in 1998 from Eli Lilly and Company, Clinton Labs. He was part of the start-up team and one of the first employed on the site in 1970. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Frist Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with Celebrant Marta Adubato officiating. Graveside military honors will be performed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of Charles "Red" Roberts.
