

Clarence David Featherston, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Royal Oaks. He was born on June 12, 1926, in Spencer to Wilford Chambers and Celesteen (Abrams) Featherston. He married Betty Ann Davis on December 23, 1950, and together they raised five daughters. Clarence proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After serving the Army, Clarence went on to serve his country again in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for many years for Terre Haute City Gas. Clarence was a hard worker and that showed through the many home improvement projects he completed during his spare time. He enjoyed playing pool and ping-pong. He loved going to amusement parks. Clarence was a lifetime member of VFW Post 972. He was also a member of Cross Tabernacle.
Clarence is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Betty; their daughters, Brenda Featherston, Sandy Featherston, Karen Hatfield and her husband Danny, and Donna Tarrh, all of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a brother, Elvin Featherston and his wife Myrtle of Terre Haute; a son-in-law, Allen Haskett, a sister-in-law, Joann Featherston; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Chihuahua, PeeWee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Peggy Haskett, and a brother, Ralph Featherston.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 11 until 2 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by VFW 972.
