Mattox-Wood Funeral Home
Daren Cee Murrell, 51, of Terre Haute, left his earthly body on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Westridge Health Care Center. He was born on October 30, 1967, in Indianapolis to Edgar Wilbur and Silvia (Guberman) Murrell.
Daren is survived by his sister, Suzie Reedy and husband Keith of Terre Haute; brother, Jay Cee Murrell of Martinsville, IN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Daren was a joy to be around. He collected movies and was an expert on movie knowledge. He loved to watch WWE Wrestling, especially when John Cena was in the ring. The family camera hog, Daren was notorious for making sure he showed up in as many pictures as possible. He had a unique talent for yo-yoing. He collected yo-yo’s and could do many tricks. He was even a self-taught yo-yo mechanic, taking them apart and repairing them when they would begin to malfunction. Over the years, Daren worked at several places, including Goodwill Industries of Indianapolis, Honey Creek Showplace 12 in Terre Haute and Bibles for the Blind International in Terre Haute. Daren’s kind heart, youthful ways, and quirky spirit will be missed by his family and all those who were blessed to have known him.
Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Daren’s Life will be held at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Selby and Pastor Tim Russell officiating. Daren will be laid to rest in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Daren’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude for the many caregivers that Daren was blessed with during his short time on Earth.
