

David L. Haney, 45, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Union Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 25, 1971, in Terre Haute, to Ernest Leroy and Mary Kathryn (Stitt) Haney.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Apollo.
David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Treasea Haney of Terre Haute; children: Zachary, Taylor, Myley , and Brandon Haney, and Bailey Barnes; siblings: Jeff (Mary) Haney, Erik Haney and Michelle, Sabrina Haney, and Amanda Haney and Brent; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth (Jess) Thompson, Ashley, Morgan, Hunter, Carter, and Nathan Haney, Hayleigh Hendrix, Addilynn and Bentleigh Thompson; extended family: Greg Spencer, Richard (Julia) Spencer, Courtney (Blake) Walker, Judy James; Rachel (Marty) Navarro, Gretchen (Oliver) Halter; close friends: Matt Puthoff, David Nicoson, Will DeLattre, and Crick family.
David was a 1990 graduate of Terre Haute North, where he played football and is remembered for “The Hit”. He attended ISU and Ivy Tech. He worked at GE Aviation. David loved sports and coaching football and baseball, where he impacted lives on and off the field. He loved the Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame.
David’s family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, 3EC and the Hux Center, several close friends, and Dr. Kunapareddy and staff for the care and compassion given during David’s eighteen month battle with pancreatic cancer. Despite the cancer, he was still able to give the gift of sight by donating his corneas.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 2, at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haney Children Scholarship Fund.
