She was born on September 4, 1922 in Terre Haute to Richard Hines and Nora Higgins Hines.
Dorothy had attended Fields Church in Mattoon, IL. She had a green thumb with flowers and plants, and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; a son, James Howard; two brothers, Frank Hines and Paul Hines; and two sisters, Ethel Brant and Violet Surber.
Surviving are her children, Joan Clark; Gary Howard, and Ralph (Cathy) Howard; a sister, Eileen Boatman; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Farris officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
