

Frances Louise (Masters) Sanders, 95, of Terre Haute, passed away January 28, 2018 at the Southwood Healthcare Center. She was born on 17 July 1922 on Park Street in Terre Haute to Charley and Marie Masters.
She graduated from Thornton School and Gerstmeyer Technical High School (1940). She often regaled her family with tales of the family history and growing up during the Depression in Terre Haute. She was very outgoing and loved to sing “the old songs,” play the piano, and dance; as well as spend time with her brothers and sisters. She married Harold Eugene Reynolds in September 1941 – just months before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, where her new husband was stationed. She served 20 years as a US Navy wife. She was widowed in 1980. They had two children, a daughter Karen Louise Tyson, who predeceased her and a surviving son Phillip Eugene Reynolds, of Triangle, Virginia. She later married Joseph “Jim” Sanders and lived in Vero Beach, Florida eventually returning to Terre Haute after again being widowed, living at Peddle Park for several years until just months before her death.
Her family has lived in Indiana since before it was a state, originally settling in Daviess County. She was the last surviving sibling of her generation, preceded in death by her brothers Charles “Chad”, Norvin, and Harold Masters and sisters Ozeata Shaffer, and Doris Toney. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-, and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.
