

Helen Watson was born at her parent’s farm on April 5, 1921 to Jesse and Grace Watson. It was called Lookout Farm, 198 acres, north of Rosedale Road near Markle Mill.She was predeceased by her sister Juanita (Theopolis) Robertson and brother Aubrey (Gertie) Watson. She went to school in North Terre Haute at Otter Creek High School. She graduated from Otter Creek High School 1939 and started at Indiana State until WW II changed her direction.
Helen married Jack E. Sampson on July 25, 1942. They were married until his death in 1981.They adopted three children, Dee Ann Nevares (Sampson), twins, Donald E. Sampson and Ronald E. Sampson. They lived in many states and in Puerto Rico during their 39 years together. After Jack's death she returned to Terre Haute and wanted to stay.
Helen has 6 grandchildren – Teresa Sirko, Christina Nevares, Emily Kelley, Katie Sampson, Janae Sampson,and Jonah Sampson. She has one great grandchild – Jack Sirko.
Helen had a talent with growing plants. Her house was always filled with African Violets, Philodendron and many others. She like to hostess and bake for her "Chatter and Stitch" group. Helen was a member of Eastern Star, Juniata Valley Court No. 121 order of the Amaranth, for many years.
The Haldt Family became a valued part of her life while she was "Back Home Again in Indiana." She lived near Roselawn Cemetery, then off Springhill Drive. She enjoyed several years with her friends at Peddle Park.Her last months were at Meadows and Royal Oak. Cremation and burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery on Friday September 16, 2011 at 11:00 am.The family welcomes anyone who would like to attend.
