

Henry A. Woodard, 80, of Terre Haute, was Promoted To Glory on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Signature Healthcare. He was born on May 20, 1934, in La Porte, IN to Arthur and Ruth (Hunt) Woodard. He married his high school sweetheart, Iona Rowley, on July 21, 1956.
Henry served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1956. He was an Officer in The Salvation Army, serving in the Central Territory for 37 years – Indiana, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Henry was a member of the Masons, Exchange Club, and Kiwanis for many years. He enjoyed racing Homing Pigeons, gardening, and caring for his dog, Buddy. Henry’s passion was encouraging others.
Henry is survived by his wife, Iona Woodard of Terre Haute; daughters, Mary Larimer and her husband Greg and Christine Knight and her husband Delbert, all of Terre Haute; a son, Major Steven Woodard and his wife Major Jennifer Woodard of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Scott Larimer and his wife Kate, Holly Garrett and her husband Andy, Jennifer Sanders and her husband Jerrod, Caleb Woodard, Jacob Woodard, and Abigail Woodard; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Locke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Woodard.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 on Monday, August 18, at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home, with Major Steven Woodard officiating. Burial with military rites performed by VFW Post 972 will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Henry’s name, to The Salvation Army of Terre Haute or McMillan Adult Daycare Center.
