Jim was a 1966 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He served in the United States Army. Jim worked for over ten years as an Autocad Draftsman for Stran Building. He then went to work as an independent contractor for over 25 years. Jim was very skilled at drafting and he truly enjoyed his career. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Nascar and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching football.
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Sue Briggs of Houston; children, Angela "Angie" Briggs, Kimberly "Kim" Briggs, and Jeffery "Jeff" Briggs; grandchildren, Jason Briggs, Allison Briggs, Joseph Briggs, and Alix Yang (Ben); great-grandson, Elijah Briggs; and a sister, Sherry Grunhaus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor John Russell officiating.
