James served for the United States Army in the Korean War. After he returned home, he went to work for Terre Haute Malleable. He then went to work as a mechanic for Heavy Duty Truck Parts, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed reading. A known tinkerer, James enjoyed building things and wood working. He was a Jack of All Trades, Master of None. He was the MacGuyver of fixing things in unique ways to make them work. He was a loving father and grandfather. James always put his family first. He will be truly missed. As James would have said, “I have stayed my respectable amount of time.”
