James Schalburg

James Frederick Schalburg “Fred”, 77, of Terre Haute, passed away June 27, 2015. He was born Jan. 22, 1938, in Terre Haute, to Kenneth and Opal Schalburg. Fred retired from Columbia House. He was a 1956 graduate from Wiley High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

Fred is survived by his wife, Mary (McQueary) Schalburg; daughters, Camilla King and Sherri Buck (Tom); stepdaughters, Denise Lucarelli (Chris) of Detroit, and Tricia Leminger (Chris Lynch) of Avon; brothers, Jerry Schalburg (Pat), and Mike Schalburg (Pam); brother-in-law, Bill McQueary (Marsha); grandchildren, Michelle Slavens, Danny Travelstead, Bryan King, and Chelsie Burke; stepgrandchild, Michael Lucarelli; nieces and nephews, Randy Schalburg (Dena), Kim Kesler (Dennis), and Rob Schalburg (Kristen); great-nieces and great-nephews, Katelyn and Cory Schalburg, Ethan and Damon Kessler, Jordon and Devin Schalburg; great-grandchildren, Jayden Slavens, Janson Slavens, Carson Travelstead, and Mia Travelstead.

In honoring Fred’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and services are private. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St. The family also expresses its deepest thanks to the nurses and staff of Davis Gardens Health Center, Visiting Nurses and Hospice of the Wabash Valley, and Union Hospital’s doctors and staff for all of Fred’s care.
