

James Earl Shelton, 75 of Terre Haute, passed away March 23, 2017. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 21, 1941 to Guy and Ida Mae Shelton. Soon after graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps to serve his country. He retired from the Electrical Union Local 725 after 35 years of service.
He was an avid poker player and gambler and would take frequent trips to Vegas, Tunica, or French Lick. When the weather was nice, he looked forward to going mushroom hunting. He was a member of the Greater Terre Haute Bowler Association since 1987. More than anything, though, he loved spending time with his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his 2 infant babies; parents; sister; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; daughter-in-law; niece; mother-in-law and father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Judy; son, Perry; grandchildren, Kali (Nygel), Melissa (Juan), Matthew (Lyndsey), and Gary (Becky); several great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews; 2 brother-in-law’s, Bill and Rich Byers.
A visitation will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 10:00a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park.
