James was born on March 13, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio to Hal and Lois Teegarden. He graduated from Geneva High School before enlisting in the United States Airforce. Following his service, he worked as an electrical technician at Purdue University, Rose-Hulman, and ISU before retiring from CF Industries in Terre Haute.
James was a member of the New Hope Fellowship church and was the kindest and most intelligent soul.
James is survived by his wife Gail (Myers, Bush) Teegarden; sons Daniel Teegarden (Christina) of Gahanna, OH and Chris Teegarden of Westfield, IN; daughter Susan Snow (Michael) of Pell City, AL; daughter-in-law Becky Teegarden; step-daughters Bunny Stephens (Dan) of Terre Haute, IN, Debbie Leverenz (Larry) of Terre Haute, IN, and Kathy York (Andy) of Indianapolis, IN; brother George Teegarden (Shirley) of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Hal and Lois Teegarden, sister Alma Guthrie, and son Mark Teegarden.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
