

Janice Mae Thomas, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Union Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 17, 1939, in Terre Haute, to Guy C. and Ida Mae (Thomas) Shelton. She married Jerry D. Thomas on January 18, 1964. Janice worked for many years as an obstetrics and pediatrics nurse. She was passionate about her work and touched many children’s lives. Janice enjoyed baking, candy making, cake decorating, gardening, and photography. She collected stamps and coins. Janice was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and loved playing with her grandkids.
Janice is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jerry; their children, Gregory D. Thomas of Terre Haute, Jeffrey S. Thomas and his wife Michele of Terre Haute, and Angela R. Thatcher and her husband Steven of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Marisa and Nathaniel Thomas and Braden Thatcher; her mother, Ida Mae Shelton of Terre Haute; brother, James E. Shelton and his wife Judith of Terre Haute, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father Guy C. Shelton and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 22 from 4 until 8 p.m. and from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Judy Lints officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
