Joan Gertrude Parker

Joan Gertrude Parker, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at her home. Born on December 7, 1931 in Terre Haute, she was one of four children born to William and Clara Gertrude (Bryant) Groth. Joan was married to George “Bob” Parker for 57 years. Together they raised six children! Joan and Bob loved road trips and seeing the United States side by side. Joan loved gardening, spending time with family, having lunch with friends, bingo, and embroidery. She was a member of the VFW Post 972 Ladies Auxiliary. Joan leaves to cherish her memory her six children: Bobby Parker, Rose Atkinson and husband Dale Matthew, Donnie Lee Parker, Jimmy Joe Parker, Ronnie Dale Parker, and George Allen Parker; fourteen grandchildren; a life celebration of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Groth Jr. and Larry Groth; her lifelong friend, Teresa Inks; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Bob Parker; and her sister, Janice K. Rector. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at a later date.
