Julie Ann Miller, 43, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 17, 1973, in Terre Haute to Ron Miller and Penni (Branson) Lawson.
Julie led a fulfilling life rich with family and friends despite being diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease at the age of five. She was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School and went on to take classes through Ivy Tech. She doted on her nieces and nephews and loved to spoil them rotten. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and listening to music. She liked to keep up with technology and especially liked to text her family and friends.
Julie may have been petite, but she had big heart and generous spirit. She loved animals and always donated whatever she could to local animal rescues and organizations. She also appreciated veterans and donated to their charities as well. Julie was always thinking of others and how she could help.
Julie is survived by her mother and step-father, Penni and Jim Lawson of Terre Haute, her father and step-mother, Ron and Lucy Miller of Rosedale; brothers, Rodney Miller and Chad Miller, both of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews, Ronny, Derik, Taylor, Jake, Zophia, C.J., Elijah, and Xavier; best friend and cousin, Kim Mount; good friend, Faith; her beloved Yorkie, Abigail; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruth Branson, Jiggs and Rosemary Miller; uncle John Miller, Aunt Vickie Duke; step-brother, Jimmy Lawson, Jr., and a niece, Taran Miller.
Julie’s family would like to thank Dr. Walsh and his nurse Donna, the staff at Union Hospital, the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice, and especially the staff of Help at Home for their kindness, compassion, and friendship.
A Celebration of Julie’s life will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. with a balloon release taking place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 18 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the animal shelter or rescue of the donor’s choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mattoxwood.com
