Ken was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Russell and Gaynelle Bedwell on December 9, 1948. He was the adored younger sibling to Carl and Jonell. He grew up in New Winchester and moved to Rockville when he started working at Eli Lilly in Clinton, where he worked for 30 years. One morning in 1978, after working the nightshift, he stopped at the Hilltop Restaurant for coffee and breakfast where he met Becky Hamilton. On June 23, 1979, Ken and Becky married and raised four children together: daughter Billie (BJ), sons Brad, Kenny Jr., and Kirk. They were married for 43 years before Becky passed on October 10, 2022.
Ken worked diligently and could build various items, repair engines regardless of size, planting trees, riding his Harley, and driving his Minneapolis Moline on his property. He valued every moment spent with his family. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Gaynelle; wife Becky; brother Carl; and loyal dog Duke. Ken remained dedicated to his entire family until the end of his life. He fought cancer without complaints and showed gratitude to God, living each day fully. He is survived by his devoted sister Jonell (Woody); daughter Billie (James); sons Brad, Kenny Jr. (Ruth), and Kirk (Christy); sister-in-law Susie; nieces Kim (Scott) and Kristie (Brad); nephew Kevin; special cousins Gloria and Patricia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; great nieces and nephews; lifelong friends George and Roseann Nicholas, and so many others.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th from 11am-1pm at Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute. The service will begin at 1pm, followed by a graveside service in Roselawn Memorial Park where Ken will be laid to rest next to Becky.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oncology staff a Hux Cancer Center and Gentiva Hospice of Terre Haute, specifically Nurse Lindsay, for the exceptional care of Ken.
