Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Sue Funk; his sister, Mary Evelyn Wilkinson; and two brothers, Jay Funk and Von Funk. Survivors include his wife of over 45 years Marilyn J. McCoy Davis Funk; six children including daughter Judy K. Edwards (Richard), sons Terry R. Funk (Faye) and Randy L. Doyle was born in Bowling Green, Indiana, 16 years younger than his sister who adored him and practically raised him as his mother was in ill health. He attended Bowling Green School and graduated with the class of 1947. He had been a member of Farm Bureau since 1949 and farmed and milked cows most all of his life. Raising chickens was a hobby and many ate his farm fresh brown eggs. He always had a large garden and planted lots of flowers, cut lots of wood to use as fuel in the winter months, and enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour westerns. He spent much of his down time at Center Point Hardware playing euchre with friends and also at the Senior Centers at Clay City and Patricksburg. He also had several good Amish friends in the Odon area and sold apples and treadle Singer sewing machines to them. Doyle was a member of the Bowling Green United Methodist Church and lived on his 140-acre farm since 1956. When the Eel River would overflow its banks and flood into his driveway, he would get in his rowboat and paddle out to go about his business. Doyle spent his last few weeks as a resident at Springhill Village Nursing Home. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family. A celebration of his life will be held June 7, 2019 (when he would have celebrated his 90th birthday) at 6 p.m. at the Bowling Green United Methodist Church for any and all who would like to attend. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bowling Green United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 42, Bowling Green, IN 47833 in Doyle's honor.
