Lois Catherine (Hayden) Mills, of Terre Haute, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend peacefully passed into eternal life on the morning of Monday, November 12, 2012 at Meadows Manor North at the age of 82.
Lois was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on February 10, 1930, the daughter of the late Thomas and Edith (Railing) Hayden. While Lois was attending school, she met and would later marry her sweetheart, James Mills on June 23, 1951. After James accepted a job at Columbia Records, the family relocated to Terre Haute. Lois briefly attended St. Mary of the Woods and was a devoted family woman, raising four children and instilling values and life lessons in all of them. As a woman of great faith, Lois was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Family was her first and foremost priority. Lois enjoyed spending time at Paint Mill Lake and Lake James, where she often could be found sitting on the porch and boating. She had a love of reading and poodles and also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Lois’ kind hearted personality, along with her great sense of humor will live on in the hearts of those she touched for generations to come.
Lois leaves behind several people who live on to honor her memory, including her children, Patrick and wife Helen Mills, Daniel and wife Susan Mills, Edith Fitch and Laura and husband Greg Madden. She was the proud and adoring grandma of April Fitch, Erika and husband Anthony Cooper, Ashley Hutson, Zac Hutson, Daniel Mills, Sam Mills and J.W. Mills. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Trenton, Destiny, Weston and Devon James; brother, Tom and wife Carol Hayden; brothers-in-law, Robert and wife Ruthanne Mills and Thomas Biesiada, along with her beloved dog, Buffy and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Lois was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, James Mills in 1999; infant son, Jimmy Mills; sister, Joy Biesiada and nephews, Eddie Biesiada and Joe Biesiada.
