

Marie K. Cunningham, 96, of Terre Haute passed away from this life March 14th, 2015, at 4:12 pm. She was born May 29th, 1918, to the late William Steele and Amelia (Beisner) Steele in Gresham, NE. The family later moved to Swanwick, IL where she met and married John L. Cunningham, October 12, 1935.
Marie and John moved to Terre Haute in 1949 and became active members of Maple Avenue Christian Church (now Maplewood) where she taught children in Sunday school and served as a volunteer manager of the Sonshine Center. She was employed at the Terre Town school cafeteria.
Marie was known for her hospitality, love of antiques, great sense of humor, and a deep devotion to her family and church. She and John were a team for nearly 70 years when he died September 1, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Devona, Alvera, and Alta; four brothers, Orville, Earl, Ralph, and Harvey; and son-in-law, Revis Brazle.
Surviving are two children, Rogene Brazle of Ladoga, IN, and Doug (Debi) Cunningham, Pekin, IL; four grandchildren, Jane (Brian) Travis, Crawfordsville, Joel (Mischy) Brazle, Seattle, WA, Chelsea (Dan) Hadwiger, Cedar Park, TX, Ashley (Daniel) Garcia, San Jose, CA; eight great grandchildren, Danielle (Mike) Kalwat, Irving, TX, Sarah (Jason) Gray, Winchester, Tim Montoney, Crawfordsville, Ewan and Maple Brazle, Chloe and Stella Hadwiger, Liam Garcia and baby brother Garcia due in May; two great-great grandchildren Jayse Gray and Clara Kalwat; and many nieces and nephews.
She was presently a member of North Side Christian Church. Marie requested special recognition of Dave Malooley, Stuart Powell, Shirley Kaperak and Norma Shaw who faithfully visited and ministered to her these past years.
Memorial service is at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 21 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Ansil Harpold officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Christian University. Envelopes will be made available at Roselawn.
