Mary Elizabeth Milam Henderson

Mary Elizabeth Pate Henderson passed away Sunday June 25, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Mary was born to Cecile and Clovis Milam on May 25, 1917 in Arthur Illinois. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Berle Milam, sister Lena Barr, her husband Hillery E. Pate, her son Richard S. Pate and her granddaughter Hillery Ann Harvey Hays. Mary’s second husband, Win Henderson also preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her daughter Becky (Ron) Harvey of San Antonio, TX, her sister Nancye Barnhart of Carmel, IN, step son Kim (Helen) Henderson of Trafalgar IN and step daughter Marla (Todd) Farris of Greencastle IN. Mary is also survived by three granddaughters, Julia Old of Palmerston North, New Zealand, Amy (Michael) Hyatt of Charleston SC and Ashley (Matt) Brosey of Charleston SC. Three nieces and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary was active as a Cub Scout and Brownie leader and served as the Secretary of the CIB class as well as a deaconess at Maplewood Christian Church where she was a member since 1950. She was also active in Girls Friendly, the Terre Haute Historical Society, AARP and the Women’s Department Club. Mary was a charter member of the Friends of the Public Library. She worked at the Vigo County Library for seven years, worked at the courthouse in Absentee Voter Registration and the ISU Bookstore and in the ISU Business Admin. Office.

Mary will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

There will be a memorial service held at Westminster on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at 1 P.M.
