Mary Ann Rumple Turnipseed

Mary Ann was raised in Bloomington and was a 1955 graduate of The University School.

She was a longtime employee of Union Hospital where she worked her way up to Manager of the Sterile Processing Department and then worked in the store room at Union Hospital, retiring December 26, 2012 from the storeroom at AP&S Clinic.

Mary Ann attended Christian Campus Ministries and Maplewood Christian Church / Maryland Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Burger and sister-in-law Joan; several aunts and uncles; the father of her children, James Rumple; and her second husband Robert Turnipseed.

Surviving are her children, Lynn Robinson and husband Kenny, Joyce Bridgette, Amy Kaufman, and Gayle Kirchoff; step-children, Norva Haseltine, Kimla Griffin, Robert Turnipseed, and Sheila Ramaswami; longtime special friend, Jay Gonthier; six granddaughters, Mellissa, Jessica, Stacey, Krystina, Lindsey, Allie; 10 great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Sadie, Kyron, Lila, Maxton, Ethan, Toryn, Amylia, Deagan, Beckett; several nieces and a nephew.

Mary Ann was an accomplished baker, especially her yeast rolls and had a green thumb. She loved decorating for the different seasons, sewing and crafting. Mary Ann had sewn matching dresses for her daughters and continued the tradition with her granddaughters. She also loved to shop and oftentimes would send her great-grandchildren unique and silly gifts. Birthday cards were specifically decorated with stickers.

Her biggest trait was her kindness to everyone that she met. She always had cookies in tow when she had a doctor's appointment.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday October 27, 2023 at Roselawn Funeral Home at 1 PM. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of services. Private inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
