 Obituario de Omer "Bud" L. Byrer Jr.
Omer L. Byrer, fondly known as Bud, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 following a brief illness. He was born on November 11, 1934 in Freetown, IN to Omer and Bessie (Greathouse) Byrer. He was one of five children. Bud is survived by his wife, Sharon Byrer; sister, Lorene Forster and husband Ernie; brother, Jim Byrer and wife Joyce; his three children, Michael Byrer, Pamela Townsend and husband Bret, Deborah Siefert and husband John; grandchildren, Missy, Mike and Jackie Byrer, Jessica (Aaron) and Matthew Townsend, Travis Walker (Colleen), and Haley Spencer (Carlos); several great-grandchildren; step-children, Larry Dimond, Kelly Land and husband Jon, Becky Jones and husband Mike; step-grandchildren, Rebecca, Chelsea, and Nicole Dimond; Ryan and Katie Land; Hannah Jones Freeman and husband Berndt; Rachel, Sarah, and Griffin Jones. When he was thirteen years old, Bud’s family moved to St. Mary of the Woods. He was a 1952 graduate of Concannon High School. Following graduation, Bud joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served for three years. Bud worked for thirteen years at Quaker Maid. He then went to work for Hercules/AET for 25 years until his retirement. Bud was an avid golfer, and upon retiring, he was able to play golf every day. He could usually be found on the course in Rea Park, his favorite place. An avid sports fan, Bud loved to watch sports, especially football, baseball, and golf. An animal lover, Bud always shared his home with pets. Blessed with a gentle soul, Bud was a genuinely nice guy. He will be truly missed. Bud’s family would like to thank Meadows Manor North for the compassion and care shown during Bud’s final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Bud may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society. Per Bud’s wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park. A graveside service with military honors will take place on Friday, February 5, 2021 at noon with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating.
