

Paul “Butch” E. Pierce, 69, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. Paul was born on November 29, 1946 to Russell and Edna Pierce. He attended Garfield Highschool where he played basketball. After high school, Paul proudly served his country as a Forward Observer with the First Air Calvary in the U.S. Army overseas during Vietnam. He enjoyed playing softball in Terre Haute with his friends from the Spinning Wheel and being a member of the Pipe Fitters Local 157. He then lived in Florida for 19 years before returning to the Indianapolis area. There, he became a member of the VFW Post 5864 and American Legion Post 252. When no longer able to pipe fit, he worked as a security guard at the Larue Carter Hospital. When not working, he enjoyed spending his days either watching NASCAR or the Tampa Bay Bucs with his dog, Chester, whom he considered his best friend. He also enjoyed fishing.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of over 33 years, Pam Pierce; his daughter, Michelle and her husband Mike DeWitt; sister, Peggy and her husband Richard Catt; two grandchildren, Andrew and Andrea Emmert; ex-wife, Deborah Pierce- Montgomery; and niece Tammy Arney.
A visitation will be held in Paul’s honor on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute, Indiana. A funeral ceremony will follow. Paul will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks donations be made to the Wheeler Mission Ministries.
