Paul and Wilma A. Killen started dating in 1952 and married April 24, 1953. Paul worked at Nehi Bottling Company and Coca Cola Bottling Company of Terre Haute before following his lifelong career of painting. He started as a Union Painter before branching out in the 1980’s with Richey and Son’s Interior and Exterior Painting, later working with his brother Carl until he retired much later. Paul loved painting. He was still swinging a paint brush just a short, few months ago. Dad always said the key to staying young is to keep on moving.
Paul loved his family and was loved by all who met him. One of his favorite sayings he liked to ask everyone was “Do you live around here, or do you ride a bicycle?”
He loved to play his harmonica, and he played and plucked on his guitar. Dad was a big Western fan. He liked Roy Rogers and John Wayne. There wasn’t a Western he didn’t like. He enjoyed walking the farm and feeding treats to all the farm animals and relaxing on the patio.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife Wilma of 53 years; his son Paul Jr; two brothers, Norman Richey and Carl Richey; three sisters, Rosemary Dickerson, Jeanie Barnett and Susie Elkins; a great grandson, Dalton Scott and a great great grandson, Kingston.
Paul is survived by his son, Patrick W. Richey (Susan) of Sullivan; daughters, Paula S. Padgett (Bob) of Clinton, Pamela J. Price (Richard) of Clinton and Rebecca Richey (wife of late Paul Jr.) of Universal; nineteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Services for Paul will be on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1:00pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with Mike Bennett officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help offset any funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
