Rita Ann Neu

She was born on 7/11/32 in Vincennes, IN to her parents George and Roxie Reinbold with a sister and half-brother, and she was adopted by George Miller and Edith Miller. She loved fishing with her dad George and canning with her mom Edith.

She attended high school in Indianapolis before studying psychology at Franklin University and joining the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Ball State University for her master’s degree in teaching, and PhD in special education. Her professional career included work in social services, teaching, special education, and school administration for secondary schools and colleges. Rita was involved in Tri Kappa and a member of First Baptist Church in Connersville, IN and New Community Church in Wexford, PA.

Rita met the love of their life, Frank, in 1947 while in high school and dated for several years. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in June 1952 after Rita’s college graduation. Rita and Frank expanded their family to include their children Robyn, Rachel, Ben, Chris, and Gabe. They were raised in Connersville, IN then Wexford, PA.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Frank Neu and son Chris Neu. She is survived by her daughter Robyn Lugar, son-in-law Joseph Lugar, grandchildren Mattheu Lugar, Jordan Fox, and Katie Lugar, grandchildren-in-law Andrea Lugar and Stephen Fox, and great-grandchildren Hayden Lugar, Chloe Lugar, and Layla Fox; daughter Rachel Baird, son-in-law Glen Baird, grandchildren Melissa Bowen and Luke Baird, and great-grandchild Derrick Rhodes; son Ben Neu, daughter-in-law Jessica Neu, and grandchildren Elizabeth Neu and Gregory Neu; and son Gabe Neu, daughter-in-law Gwen Neu, and grandchildren Archie Neu and Georgia Neu.

Rita’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. The family will have a private ceremony and burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, IN. Any cards or messages
