Shirley Ann (Lucas) Altman, 83, passed away at her home in Rosedale, Indiana, on December 5, 2020. Shirley was born on August 1, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Willis and Opal Lucas. On October 12, 1957, she married the love of her life, Duaine (Chief) Altman. She was a member of the Friendly Grove Baptist Church in Rosedale, Auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 290 (president and treasurer), an Auxillary member of the AMVETS, and 8 & 40 of Rockville. She was known for her hard work helping with the military Christmas boxes, food share, and parties for children in Rosedale. Shirley was named the Rosedale Woman of the Year in 2002. Shirley enjoyed her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and her dog Putter. She loved to garden, especially her flowers. She was known for being a loving and wonderful mom to everybody. She is survived by her sister, Donna Huxford of Rosedale; daughters, Carol Lohse (Clark) of Clinton and Teri Altman of Rosedale; son, Michael Altman (Tracy Coonce) of Terre Haute; and John Bennett of Rosedale who thought of her as his mom. Also survived are grandchildren, Kayla, Willis, Ashley Elaine, Joel, Ashley Nicole; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Chloe, Gracie, Treyton, Brendon, Zoe, and Korben; along with several nieces and nephews. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Jimmy Lee; as well as her close friend, Myron Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA or Hospice. Private service will be held at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
