

William E. Gilly, 78, of Fairborn, OH and formerly of Rosedale, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, at Wright Nursing in Fairborn. He was born on August 14, 1935, in Kars Fork, KY to Henry and Dora (Viers) Gilly. William served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Gilly’s Ice Cream Stand on US 41 for many years. He was an active member of the Zorah Shrine when he lived in Terre Haute, often driving children to the Shriner’s Hospital. William loved to work, even after he retired. He enjoyed keeping busy.
William is survived by his children: Barbara Foster and her husband Mark, Beverly Carter, Brenda Mullins, James Ryans and his wife Marianne, and Billy Joe Gilly; siblings, Earl Gilly and his wife Faye, Louise and Elby, Carl Gilly, Betty Davis and her husband Owen, and Paul Gilly; ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna Faye Gilly, a son Tommy Ryans, siblings James Gilly and Irene Gilly, and grandchildren Tommy and Johnny.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 on Friday at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial with military rites performed by VFW Post 972 will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
