William Ronald “Ron” Leslie, 79, of Tampa and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on December 10, 2020 at his home. He was born on July 20, 1941, in Terre Haute to William Austin and Leona Elva (Williams) Leslie.
Ronald is survived by his daughter, Ronni “Raynae” Leslie of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, William Raymond Leslie-Holt, Kyleigh Nichole Leslie-Holt, Lena Taylor, Leslie-Holt; brothers, Thomas Leslie and Timothy Dale Leslie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Sandra Leslie; and his two brothers, Darryl Leslie and Terry Leslie.
Ron graduated from Otter creek High School. He married Sandra Kay Swalls on July 20, 1970. Ron worked for several years as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company, he later switched careers and became a truck driver for Gibson Coal Company and eventually retired from RBW Trucking.
Ron was musically talented and played steel guitar for Country Diamond Band. In his spare time he enjoyed playing pedal steel guitar and was an avid amateur CB radio operator. He loved to spend time with his dogs, Wolfe and Sampson. He also liked taking his grandchildren out and spending quality time with them. He will forever be known as a soft-spoken man with a love of country music and the open road.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, January 16 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home. Ron will be laid to rest with his wife in Roselawn Memorial Park. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
